This chart has been removed and is currently being converted into a live/operational chart that will refresh every 30 minutes.
Permission: You will need the "Dashboards" permission to access this feature.
This chart will show your asset utilization by comparing how many of your assets were active compared to the total number of assets in your database for a selected date range.
Activate the Fleet Utilization organization goal under the Organization goals to see these charts on the dashboard.

Click on the image to view it in full screen if the article is open in your browser:
- Click Measure.
- Under Insights, click Dashboards.
- Complete the selection criteria:
- Choose the organization you want to view.
- Make sure you are on the Dashboards page.
- Select your date range by clicking on the drop-down list and then choose last month, last week, etc.
- Choose how you want to view your date selection, e.g. you can choose to view "This Quarter" in the first dropdown and then click the next drop-down list and select by month of year, etc.
- Choose whether you want to view data by assets or drivers by clicking the relevant button.
- Click the filter button (see example below) to choose how you want to view the groups in your organization and whether you want to reduce the number of sites or assets/drivers that should be displayed. You can also indicate how you want the results to be displayed, e.g. worst to best, etc.
Click the info icon "i" to see the difference between detailed and simplified view. Click it again to remove the information box. Detailed - This option allows you to dive deep into the chart hierarchy, providing a comprehensive and in-depth analysis. Simplified - This alternative offers a streamlined perspective, focusing solely on the highest and lowest levels of data, making it ideal for a quick and concise overview. This is available when viewing information on an organization-level.
- To only view information by sites, click the relevant option and check the boxes next to the sites you want to include in the charts (up to a maximum of 250 charts). This is available to users with site-level permissions. If you only have site-level permissions you will not be able to see the organization-level view.
10. Select the Fleet Utilization (Default) page from the list of dashboards or select a custom dashboard if you created one.
Note that if a site or asset does not have any recorded information for the time period, it will not be displayed on the chart.
- Now scroll to the MANAGE FLEET UTILIZATION - active vs. inactive assets dashboard widget.
- Exclude certain days by clicking on the settings icon. Say for instance that you selected the last three months in the date criteria at the top and opted to exclude Saturdays and Sundays in the chart, and an asset happened to only operate on Saturdays and Sundays, it will be excluded from the asset count for active assets. If it was active on any weekday it will show as active. The same applies to inactive assets. If Saturdays and Sundays are excluded and the asset only operated on those days, it will be included in the chart as an inactive asset.
- You can click on the number of active assets (with trips) or the number of inactive assets (where no trips took place) to view additional details.
- Total available assets will display all assets that have been created/existed at any point in the entire selected period and will therefore not necessarily match the available count seen in fleet admin as that value displays the available at that moment in time and not what it may have been for historical period as seen on the chart.
- The second level chart shows you the number of active or inactive assets (depending on which you clicked on the first chart) per site.
- Click on any of the sites to view a breakdown of the assets. Read below for more information on the last level chart.
Active assets (All assets that had trips regardless of the distance of the trips)
- On the last chart as shown above, you can view a single asset's utilization when you hover over the green, amber or red bar:
- You will see the number of days with trips, days without trips, and a calculated utilization percentage.
- You can specify the color of the asset utilization bands by clicking the settings icon on this last chart. If you want the utilization percentage to show in red if the percentage is less than 50%, you can set the start range for amber to 50. If you want the bars to display in green for say, 90% and above only, set the amber end range to 90%
Please note: if you opted to exclude certain days from the settings icon in the first charts note that the asset utilization count will exclude these days from the total number of days. Say for instance, three months have been selected as the date range, the utilization calculation will not be on 90 days but rather the number of days without the relevant Saturdays and Sundays. Asset utilization is the number of days with trips divided by the total number of days in the date selection (where these excluded days will be subtracted from the total number of days).
Inactive assets (Total available assets minus active assets)
- You will see a list of all the inactive assets. Hover over each bar to view the number of days since the asset had its last trip and the date of the last trip.
- Click the Back button at the top of the widget to return to the previous view:
- Take a screenshot of the graph by clicking the Take a snapshot button:
