You can choose when an event must occur in a specific location, when it must be recorded, or when an active message must be sent by changing the settings in the Location Library.
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Templates.
- Click the Location templates tab on the left.
- Search for and open the relevant location template by clicking on the green hyperlinked Template name.
- Click the relevant location name in the location list in the template.
Click on the image to view it in full screen when the article is open in the browser:
- Set the recording delay for the over speeding value, e.g. 15 mph. An event will occur when the threshold is reached, taking into account the recording delay.
- You can set a buffer, e.g. 3mph and the event will not trigger within this buffer.
- Choose the warning delay in minutes and seconds, e.g. 0 minute, 30 seconds. This is the period of time after reaching the speed threshold and the buffer before the driver receives a warning.
- The recording delay is the period of time in minutes and seconds after receiving a warning before an over-speeding event will be recorded.
- Choose the message priority from the dropdown list:
- Normal - The message will be sent when the message buffer is full.
- Urgent - The queued message will be sent immediately. Any normal priority messages that have been queued will be sent at the same time.
- Critical (Limited) - The message will be sent immediately using any available transport, including satellite, and adhere to the daily message limits. The mobile device will surface if required.
- Critical - The message will be sent immediately using any available transport, including satellite and ignore any daily message limits. The mobile device will surface if required.
- Emergency - The message will be sent immediately using ALL available transport channels, including satellite, and ignore any daily message limits. The mobile device will surface if required. Duplicate active events will be shown in the system.
Active message sending, and event notifications can be configured based on “Excessive Speed” or “Excessive Duration”.
An active message will be sent when the driving speed exceeds the specified excessive speed or duration limits regardless of any warning or recording delays.
- Check the box to send active messages based on excessive duration and indicate the minutes and seconds.
- Check the box to send active messages based on excessive speed and indicate the miles per hour.
Important notes
- The return value of the event is the location ID and not the duration.
- The speed limit will not show if the event is not set up as an excessive duration event.
- The following active messages are visible in the Info Hub and Live Tracking and available for the creation of notifications:
- Over Speeding due to excessive speed (Active Message only).
- Over Speeding due to excessive duration (Active Message only).
As these are active events they cannot be used for reporting or scoring purposes because they are not stored long-term.
- The "Over speeding in location" event is a passive event and therefore will not generate any notifications.
