To improve the quality of our asset make and model data, the Make field in MiX Fleet Manager has been changed from a free text field to a dropdown list. In addition, the Make field will be compulsory before saving asset details.
The development was done to prevent users from entering inaccurate data by capturing incorrect makes, spelling mistakes, or using inconsistent formats, etc.
More accurate data means better data analytics, improved reporting across makes of vehicles and better insights required for building OEM relationships with accurate information.
MiX Telematics has already performed a data clean-up by analyzing the data and mapping the Make field with the currently entered VIN and asset description to ensure the Make field in all organizations is correct.
When creating a new asset or editing an existing asset in MiX Fleet Manager, you will now see the dropdown field, as well as the red asterisk, indicating the mandatory Make field. No action will be required from users for existing assets.
This will also be shown on the mobile apps when adding or updating asset details:
MiX Integrate
It is important to use the exact Make as in the predefined list when importing asset data using MiX Integrate. If a user enters a wrong Make, an exception error will be returned and the import will not be allowed. When nothing has been entered the value will default to "other".
If you cannot find the Make in the list, please select "other" and submit a support request for the Make to be added to the list.
You will be notified when your service request has been resolved and you can then change the Make from "other" to your newly added Make. You can use the bulk import feature to amend many assets simultaneously.
