The state line crossing event is a server-side event that you need to enable for the organization that needs to comply with IFTA.
This event is the mechanism whereby the distances within a state are calculated to collect and distribute fuel tax revenue between member states and Canadian provinces.
MiX Fleet Manager has a spatial map layer for all states and when positions are processed, they are tagged with a state value. The moment a position comes in with a new state value the state line crossing event is triggered.
For FM mobile devices the positions are recorded as per the passive trail setting as shown below with a default value of 300 seconds. This setting is found on the F3 - GPS line on the mobile device template and can be changed as desired.
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Templates.
- Click on the mobile device templates tab on the left.
- Look for the template that you would like to amend and click the downward actions arrow and select Edit.
- Click on the GPS receiver connection hyperlink next to the F3 line:
- Scroll to the Features and settings section and check the box next to Passive trail.
- Enter the value in seconds.
- Click Save.
For the MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 devices, there is no difference between the passive and active position settings. The AVL rate is used to record each position and this is every 30 seconds by default. This setting is found under the mobile device settings when you click on the mobile device type.
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Templates.
- Click on the mobile device templates tab on the left.
- Look for the template that you would like to amend and click the downward actions arrow and select Edit.
- Click on the name of the mobile device type:
- Scroll to the send AVLs section and change the AVL in trip frequency if required.
- Click Save.
