You can use the ELD in Non-HOS mode if enabled, which typically applies to vehicles weighing less than the HOS weight limit when the trailer is unhooked. You can change between using the vehicle in HOS mode and switch back to normal HOS mode. See below for more information. In addition, you can change your duty status whilst in Non-HOS mode and switch to a special driving condition.
Please note that if you are transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placard, HOS regulations dictate that yo u must operate the vehicle in HOS mode and may not operate in Non-HOS mode.
- After inserting your driver plug, select the Non-HOS mode.
- Tap OK to confirm.
- Wait for synchronization to complete.
- Remove the red plug only when prompted.
In this mode, vehicle movement will be recorded against your name for fleet management purposes, however driving time will not be recorded to your log.
- You can now view your driver status and/or change to special driving conditions, such as yard moves or authorized personal use by tapping the Hours of Service button on the home screen as shown below:
- You will see that you are logged in by checking your name on the top banner and seeing that you are indicated as the active driver below the driver icon.
- Tap the drop-down list next to NON-HOS mode to change the duty status to a special driving condition.
- You can change back to normal HOS-mode by selecting Normal mode.
- Now select your new duty status by tapping the box below the required heading. You can enter an annotation by tapping the box to enable the keyboard.
- Please note that you will have an additional sub-status field on this screen, if you have enabled our Time Entry solution.
- Tap Save when you are done.
- When you are in HOS mode, the ELD will display NORMAL MODE in the top banner as shown below.
- Tap this banner again if you need to change back to Non-HOS mode.
- Select Non-HOS mode from the drop-down list:
- Tap OK to confirm.
- Again, the ELD will display NON-HOS mode in the banner above.
Change duty status while in Non-HOS mode
- If you want to change your duty status whilst in Non-HOS mode, simply click the driver icon showing that you are the active driver.
- Select your new status by tapping the relevant box, and if relevant select a sub-status.
- Please note that you will have an additional sub-status field on this screen, if you have enabled our Time Entry solution.
- Enter an annotation by tapping the box to enable the keyboard.
- Tap Save.
- Your new duty status will now be displayed below the driver icon and you will still be displayed as in non-HOS mode. You will also see the sub-status if you have enabled the Time Entry solution.
Change to a special driving condition while in Non-HOS mode.
- Tap the banner showing Non-HOS mode to change to another driving condition.
- Select Authorized personal use of CMV or Yard moves depending on relevance:
- You can select a sub-status if Time Entry has been enabled and enter an annotation by tapping in the box to enable the keyboard.
- Tap Save when you are done.
- The new driving condition will now display in the top banner as shown below:
