What happens when drivers forget to identify themselves at the start of the trip?
Because the MiX Vision AI device is a standalone peripheral that does not support driver identification, the driver must be identified to associate the driver ID on the onboard computer with these events. This does not happen automatically and therefore ideally, the driver must identify themselves at the start of the trip to ensure all the events will be linked to that driver's name and ID.
If drivers however forget to identify themselves at the start of a trip and only identify during the trip, the trips will be processed and the driver ID will be retrofitted to all the MiX Vision AI events.
This means that all active events as shown in Live Tracking, notifications, and the Info Hub will show an unidentified driver or previously identified driver up to the point where the correct driver identified him/herself. Passive events as shown on Historical Tracking, Reports, and the Trip timeline will retrofit all the events for that trip with the identified driver.
Where are these videos stored?
Videos are stored on our S3 server and HR video on the SD card of the camera.
How long does it take to load the videos to the Info Hub?
The MiX Vision AI device must be on for videos to download. The AI events are generated in real-time.
The onboard computer (OBC) generated events are downloaded after a trip for FM devices and immediately for MiX 4000 devices. For the OBC generated events, the device is configured with a delay to stay on for a default of 15 minutes after the ignition is switched off to allow for the download of videos. Once downloaded it may take up to 5 minutes to show in MiX Fleet Manager. This means events can display in MiX Fleet Manager but the videos may still be downloading.
How long are the videos available on the server?
The default is 8 months but you can set this under Data retention settings for the organization.
How long are the videos available on the camera?
Depending on the size of the SD card videos will remain available until it starts overwriting the current footage with a new video. As an example, an SD card of 32 GB is about 18 hours of standard-def and about 4 hours of high res driving time before it starts overwriting. You can save the HR video to your computer.
What is the size of the videos?
