This article explains how to set up your mobile phone as an OBC (on-board computer) to perform tracking and driver monitoring.
- Enable MyMiX for the organisation.
- Make "Mobile phone" available in the mobile device library.
- When the mobile phone device is made available, the default mobile device template, event template and default configuration group is automatically created.
- Create a new asset or add an existing asset to the default configuration group for the mobile phone (do this by editing the asset and changing the asset's configuration group field as shown below). If you select a configuration group that makes use of a mobile phone device type, the mobile number will be required on the mobile device settings tab when commissioning the asset. Set the registration number to the mobile phone number too.
- Commission the asset to make use of the mobile phone as the mobile device type.
- When clicking save on the asset creation screen, the status of the asset will change to "unverified" once the commissioning SMS has automatically been sent to the driver. Whilst the asset status is unverified, the commissioning SMS can be resend.
- The drivers will receive the commissioning SMS instructing them to download and install the MyMiX app. As soon as the driver clicks on the link in the text message to download and install the app and accepts the terms and conditions, the status of the asset will change to "available". If the driver did not receive the commissioning SMS text message, click here to see how to perform this action using the app.
- Create a driver in MiX Fleet Manager and enable the driver for MyMiX.
- Create a MyMiX username when enabling the driver for MyMiX and generate a temporary password. Send these to the driver to log into MyMiX.
