The MiX4000 GSM Signal event parameter can be configured to set up diagnostics events to monitor and troubleshoot GSM Signal quality and coverage. Please take note of the signal quality event table at the bottom of the article.
DI: CSO GSM in Coverage No GPRS[Posb.Congestion]
The event will trigger once the unit is in trip, GSM Signal Quality is true and GPRS - connected network is false.

DI: CSO Diagnostic-No GSM Coverage
The event will trigger when the unit is outside GSM coverage.

The event will trigger when the unit is outside GPRS coverage.

DI: CSO GSM Signal Quality [11...15]
The event will trigger once the unit is In trip, GSM Signal Quality is greater than 11 and less than or equal to 15. Ok coverage or 2-BAR

DI: CSO GSM Signal Quality [15..32]
The event will trigger once the unit is in trip, GSM Signal Quality is greater than 15 and less than or equal to 32. Good to Excellent coverage or 3-4BAR

The event will trigger once the unit is in trip, GSM Signal Quality is greater than 0 and less than or equal to 11. Marginal 1-BAR

The event will trigger once the unit is in trip, GSM Signal coverage is true and GSM Signal Quality equals 99.
Event value 99 can indicate no connection or a rebooting.

GSM Signal Strength Explained
Below is a table with the signal strength and meaning (When compared to the number of bars on your Cellphone).
Please note that when a unit is moving then the signal quality is about 10 dB worse than when it is standing still / or stationary on a bench
In all cases, you should aim for “Excellent” or 4 bars or > 67% for uninterrupted tracking
