A complete configuration comprises two distinct areas:
- The mobile device, its inputs and associated settings.
- The required events for a specific make/model of vehicle or connected peripheral.
In the system these two areas have been separated to enable the setup of reusable mobile device settings and events. These reusable elements are termed templates.
The combination of one mobile device template and one event template results in a configuration group. Assets are allocated to configuration groups.
To understand how libraries, templates and configuration groups work together, read more here.
Mobile device template:
- The Mobile device templates section of the application allows complete mobile device hardware settings with its input devices and their settings to be specified, named and re-used in the creation of config groups.
- The mobile devices and input devices available for inclusion in Mobile device template are those defined in the Mobile device and Input device libraries.
- Each template can support 1 mobile device type e.g. MiX 4000.
- Any changes made to the mobile device template will cascade to the configuration groups using this mobile device template. If this is not desired, a duplicate mobile device template can be created, modified and given a new name.
Event template:
- The Event template section of the application allows the creation of a complete event set specific to a vehicle make and model and/or connected peripherals.
- This event template can then be re-used in the creation of config groups.
- The events within a template are selected from those specified in the Events library.
- Events within a template can be edited and events can be duplicated or removed from the template.
- Editing the events within an template will cascade the changes to all the configuration groups using this event template. If this is not desired a duplicate of the event template can be created, modified and given a new name.
Location Template
- The Location template will only be visible when a mobile device template has the on-board location speed monitoring feature enabled.
- The locations, in a location template, are loaded onto the unit via a normal config upload. Editing a location, used in the location template, will put the assets using this template into a “Config changed” status.
