When MiX Talk has been enabled for an organisation, you can link the MiX Talk device to a specific asset.
- Click Monitor.
- Under Fleet admin, click Assets.
- Search for the relevant asset you want to configure the MiX Talk device on.
- Click on the asset name in the asset description column or click the downward actions arrow and select Edit.
- Click the Mobile device settings tab on the left.
- Scroll down to the MiX Talk section and enter the required information as follows:
- MiX Talk IMEI number, a 15 digit unique identification number found on the device. You can only configure one asset for each MiX Talk device so this number must be unique.
- MiX Talk mobile number, enter a unique mobile number and add the country code, e.g. +2782 3456789.
- Select the network provider (carrier) from the dropdown list. The list of possible carriers (e.g. Vodacom, MTN, etc.) are read from the DeviceConfiguration DB.
- Click Save.
- The MiX Talk will now be commissioned.
Commissioning
-
MiX Talk commissioning and keypad number updates are sent via SMS. The service will continue to send these SMS's for a period of 30 minutes attempting every 10 minutes to resend (thus 3 attempts). After 30 minutes and three attempts, the service will expire and if the SMS has not been acknowledged by the device within the 30 minutes, the status on the Mobile device settings page will change to failed.
- You will see a commissioning status field below the IMEI number field that displays the SMS status, e.g. pending, delivered, failed.
Important: There is a 30-minute timeout on messages sent, which means you have to wait 30 minutes before re-sending otherwise the new command will automatically go into a failed state.
- You can refresh to see an updated status.
- If the message was unsuccessful, you can click the retry button - this button is only available when the status of the previous attempt is displayed as failed.
- When the MiX Talk unit responds with a commissioned status, the keypad numbers tab will now become available for the asset.
- Please note: commissioning is only complete when the Master number, SMSC, and Open line has been set.
