The distance is calculated based on passive positions only. This event is therefore visible in Historical tracking, the Timeline and reports for FM units and MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 units but not in Live tracking, Info hub or notifications for FM units.
Please note: This method also makes use of a straight line calculation (as the crow flies) between points and might not provide an exact distance if the road within the location is full of curves and turns. In general, distance should be seen as an approximate.
Rule – The distance in location is the sum of distance calculated on a straight line from the first position WITHIN the location to the last position WITHIN the location via all the positions in between PLUS the distance based on a straight line distance from location edge to first position and last position to location edge. See below for a graphical representation. If only one position is received, no distance will be available.
Typical Event Description – Distance in Location.
Returned Value - Location Name & Distance and Duration.
Setting it up
- Select "Distance in location", on the third tab, called, Events.
- Select the relevant locations that must be used to evaluate the rule. Note - The option to select all the locations are not provided as this could cause undesired system performance if not used cautiously.
- Now choose if you want to record the event "Anytime" or "Between selected times", which also includes day of week options. You could want to set up an event to only record on weekdays, between 8 am to 5 pm.
