Server-side events are supported on the FM, MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000.
Different unit types process data differently, i.e. the FM units have active and passive data streams and active data is displayed in the Live Tracking, Notifications and Info hub modules, whilst passive data is displayed in the Historical Tracking, Reports and Timeline modules. This means that whether a server-side rule uses active or passive data could affect if events are displayed in certain modules.
For the MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 unit types everything comes in as active data and is then stored as passive data. It is then displayed as active data in Live Tracking, Notifications and Info Hub and displayed as passive in Historical Tracking, Reports and the Timeline.
In summary:
- Active data is seen in Live Tracking, Notifications and Info Hub.
- Passive data is seen in Historical Tracking, Reports and Timeline.
Therefore if a server-side event rule uses passive data only in the calculation it means that for FM units, the event will not be displayed in Live Tracking, Notifications or Info Hub and similarly if a rule uses active data only in the calculation, it will not be visible in the Historical Tracking, Reports or Timeline modules.
However, because the MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 units are set up differently, the events will always be displayed in all the modules irrespective of how the rule is set up because these units store all the active data as passive data as explained above.
Server-side event type | Returned Value | Unit type specifications |
---|---|---|
Duration at location | Location Name: note this is not the actual duration at the location, but rather when the duration of x minutes has been exceeded, the event becomes true. | Active and passive. |
Distance in location | Location Name, distance and duration. | Distance and duration are calculated on passive positions for FM units and active positions for the MiX 2000, 4000 and 6000 units, therefore not available in Live Tracking, Info Hub or Notifications for FM units but available on MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 units. |
Location entry/exit | Location Name. | Active and passive. |
Location started/stopped | Location Name. | Active and passive. |
Event at location | Location Name and on-board event name. | Active only, therefore for FM units not available in reports or Historical tracking. |
Movement alert | None | Active and passive. |
Over-speeding in location | Location Name & additional info like Speed Limit, Speed Value, Duration depending on where in the system the event is viewed. | Active and passive. |
Location entry and exit |
Location Name, max speed, duration. | Does not calculate distance, but rather calculates max speed and provides duration. Calculated on passive positions for FM units and active positions for MiX 2000, 4000 and 6000 units, therefore not available in Live Tracking, Info Hub or Notifications for FM units but available for MiX 2000, MiX 4000 and MiX 6000 units. |
