The Location library contains all the locations associated with an organization. The location library contains the locations that have been created in MiX Fleet Manager. You can view a list of the locations you have created in the manage locations feature or create a new one.
Accessing the Location Library
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Libraries.
- Click on the Location library tab on the left.
Make a location available for on-board location monitoring
- Find the location you want to monitor.
- Click the actions arrow next to a grey location and select Make available:
- Once available, the location will appear as “Available – missing parameters” and can be edited to add the necessary speed limit and event parameters.
NB: Note that you cannot delete a location that has been enabled in the location library.
Edit a location - add parameters
- In the location library, click on the location name or click edit after clicking on the actions arrow.
- The location name and type cannot be edited here. This information can be edited in the manage locations feature under Tracking.
- Enter the missing parameters, e.g. trigger an over speeding event when speed is more than say, 60 MPH or when to send an active message, etc. These conditions will thus determine when the event will be true. The event will be true when the driving speed reaches the over speeding value PLUS the buffer. Where a buffer is set to zero, the event will be true at the over speeding value.
- The recording settings determine when the event will record once the conditions are true. The Warning delay is the delay before the driver is warned via the buzzer on the on-board computer that they have exceeded the over speeding in the location value plus the buffer. The Recording delay follows the warning delay and is the delay before the over speeding in location event is recorded. If the driver does not reduce speed below the over speeding threshold (plus the buffer) within the recording delay, the event is recorded from the beginning of the recording delay. The event recorded is called “Over speeding at location” event. This is not an active event, but is available in event reports.
- Active Message sending can be configured based on “Excessive Speed” or “Excessive Duration”. An active message will be sent when the driving speed exceeds the specified excessive speed or duration limits regardless of any warning or recording delays. The following active messages are visible in the Info Hub and Live Tracking and available for the creation of notifications:
- Over Speeding due to excessive speed (Active Message only).
- Over Speeding due to excessive duration (Active Message only).
- Click Save.
Available locations with no over-speeding event parameters are displayed as “Available – missing parameters”.
Note that any changes made at the library level will not cascade down to an existing location template.
You can also import location over speeding parameters to the location library.
- You can now add these locations to a location template.
