The driver is identified by the act of inserting the driver code-plug into the code-plug socket in the vehicle. This is how the system ensures that a driver is linked to a trip and all event data related to that trip.
The Driver ID: is the number used to uniquely identify the driver to the system. When creating a driver you choose this number which may be in the range -32,768 to 32,768.
Fleet manager can add the specific driver ID number range for a specific site, e.g. if you choose to specify that all the drivers with ID from 1-100 belong to your California site, specify this in the settings when adding or editing a site.
Alternatively, if no ID is selected the next available ID will automatically be assigned to a driver.
Once the driver has been created this number may no longer be changed.
Due to accuracy and integrity of the system, Driver ID's can not be deleted by users. A service request has to be logged with the support department to have this done by the database administrators.
When a driver is deleted from the database, the driver ID will be recycled as the next available ID to be used when a new driver is created.
System drivers in the database:
Installer -> Driver ID -2
Unknown Driver -> Driver ID 0
Unmatched Extended Driver ID -> Driver ID 1
If enabled, when a driver uses any form of driver identification but was not created as a driver in MiX Fleet Manager and the trip data is downloaded, the system will automatically create a driver. Click here to learn how to enable this.
