For quicker delivery of CAN scripts we have created 3 CAN script types and new scripts will be clearly named.
- Alpha script - Scripts developed by MiX accredited 3rd party developers*, but NOT subject to CSO Development Processes. They are NOT verified as working in Production and so are NOT supported by the CSO Support team.
- Beta script – Script developed by CSO Scripting team OR a 3rd party developer, but ARE subject to CSO Development Processes. They are NOT verified as working in Production and so are NOT supported by the CSO Support team
- Verified script - Script developed by CSO Scripting team OR a 3rd party developer, but ARE subject to CSO Development Processes. They ARE verified as working in Production and are ARE supported by the CSO Support team.
*MiX accredited developers have been trained by the CSO Scripting team.
This table explains the differences:
Release Type | CSO code review | CSO testing | Production verification | Supported by | Script updates |
Alpha | No | No | No | MiX accredited developer | No |
Beta | Yes | Yes | No | N/A | No |
Verified | Yes | Yes | Yes | CSO | Yes |
The ultimate aim is to have VERIFIED scripts. To ensure an efficient process, with immediate effect, we require acknowledgment that the script will be tested and verified within three weeks of being available for testing BEFORE CSO development will work on a script.
Important notes
- If no commitment to test and verify by the requestor the script will NOT be developed.
-
A BETA script will be developed and made available for testing. However, any feedback regarding the script must be given within one sprint after the Beta release, i.e. the current 3-week development sprint it is developed in and the next. The script will be marked as "Awaiting Requestor Verification" and if no feedback is received, the support ticket on MiX Help Centre will be closed.
- Should testing feedback be received at a later date this will be treated as a new request and a new MiX Help Centre support ticket will be required for prioritization.
- BETA scripts can remain in use on production, but will be clearly labelled as such to prevent accidental use.
- No SR support for ALPHA or BETA-labelled scripts.
- Once positive testing feedback on a BETA script is received the VERIFIED script with ODO sync enabled will be released.
