Multi-factor authentication is an electronic multi-step account verification method where a user is granted access to a website or application after providing additional verification than just login credentials, in this case a TOTP.
TOTP (time-based one-time password) is generated by a computer algorithm using the current time of day for uniqueness, to create a temporary passcode to use as a one-time password.
You can use any authentication app that supports TOTP. We recommend you download and install the Microsoft Authenticator or the Google Authenticator.
How does this work?
The existing MiX Fleet Manger authentication (login method) remains in place, which is supplying a username and password on the login page. MFA offers an additional security option of using a 6 digit TOTP to verify your account. This works with most popular authentication mobile apps that support this method.
MFA is by default disabled but can be enabled for each user.
When enabled a user will have to provide an additional 6-digit authentication code when logging into MiX Fleet Manager. This code or TOTP is provided by a linked authentication app.

Google Authenticator
The app can be downloaded and installed on the users preferred device (e.g. mobile phone) and after setup will supply the code needed to verify the user's identity.
